Joy’s family is originally from Bangladesh—her mother from Rajshahi and her father from Natore. Though they moved to Canada many years ago, the beauty and warmth of Bengali culture remain an important part of their lives, and of Joy’s. As part of our celebrations, we’re excited to share a traditional Bengali wedding ceremony with our closest family and friends.
💛 Biye (বিয়ে) – A Bengali Wedding Celebration
We’re so excited to celebrate our biye (বিয়ে) — a Bengali wedding gathering full of colour, laughter, and heartfelt moments.
Rooted in Bengali tradition, this event will blend joy and light-hearted rituals. Expect playful games, sweet treats (mishti), and loving words from family and friends. The evening will end with an early dinner served in true Bengali style — rich with flavour and warmth.
It’s a chance for us to honour Joy’s heritage in a way that feels intimate and inclusive. Whether you’re familiar with these traditions or experiencing them for the first time, we can’t wait to share them with you.
Bengali Ceremony
Our Bengali ceremony will be held at the beautiful Palazzo Rosati, located in the charming village of Azzano near the vibrant town of Tremezzo on Lake Como. This intimate garden party setting offers a perfect blend of tradition and elegance, where we will celebrate diverse Bengali wedding customs. An early dinner will be served, allowing guests to enjoy the festivities and still have plenty of time to rest ahead of the main wedding day

For our Bengali Ceremony, we warmly invite guests to wear traditional Bengali or South Asian attire.
For women:
Sari: A graceful draped garment typically wrapped around the waist with one end draped over the shoulder, often made of silk or cotton.
Lehenga: A long, embroidered skirt paired with a fitted blouse and dupatta (scarf).
Anarkali: A flowing, frock-style dress with a fitted bodice and flared skirt, usually made from light, breathable fabrics.
Sharara: Wide-legged pants paired with a long tunic and matching dupatta, offering comfort and elegance.
Considering Lake Como’s summer climate, lightweight silks and other natural fabrics are recommended for comfort.
For men:
Traditional options include the Punjabi suit (a long tunic with matching trousers) or a kurta, a long shirt typically worn with pajama-style pants. Both styles offer a relaxed yet festive look perfect for the occasion.
If you prefer Western attire and wish to simply observe the traditions, that is absolutely fine. Further guidance on the dress code will be shared in an upcoming presentation.
Alcohol-Free Celebration
Our wedding event will be alcohol-free, respecting the diverse beliefs and traditions of our families and guests, including our Muslim community. We aim to create an inclusive, warm, and joyous environment for everyone to enjoy.
Early Evening Finish
The celebration will end early in the evening to allow everyone time to rest and prepare for the grand wedding festivities the following day. This ensures all guests can fully enjoy both days of our special occasion.
A Truncated Bengali Ceremony
We will include a shortened version of the traditional Bengali ceremony, giving our guests a meaningful glimpse into this beautiful cultural ritual, while keeping the event smooth and accessible for all.
